Effect of Medicaid Expansion on Cost-Shifting to the Commercially Insured: A Differences-in-Differences Design

This study is a follow-up to a previous study and examines whether state Medicaid expansions under the ACA reduced cost-shifting from the uninsured to commercially insured patients. Leveraging a differences-in-differences design, Dr. Pozen will compare outcomes including uncompensated care expenditures, hospital prices, and insurance premiums between expansion and non-expansion states before and after expansion.
