Effect of Market Competition on Timeliness and Outcomes of Hip Fracture Surgery

Prior work has demonstrated race- and insurance-based disparities in the delivery of care for patients with hip fractures. Using a statewide administrative of hospital discharges from 1998 to 2010, Dr. Pozens’ team aimed to extend this work by investigating whether the availability of hospital resources within Hospital Service Areas influences the ability to deliver timely and effective care to hip fracture patients.
