Community-based Initiatives for Health Literacy and Action (CIHLA)

Community Based Initiatives for Health Literacy and Action (CIHLA) is a collaboration between the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH), City University of New York Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy (CUNY SPH), and community-based organizations (CBOs) from four Black, Indigenous people, and People of Color (BIPOC) neighborhoods disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. CIHLA will partner with CBOs to increase their resources and capacity to be health literate organizations that adhere to national standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS).
