Dr. Mi Young (Amy) Ahn is joining us as a Visiting Research Scholar for this academic year, 2026-2027. She will be conducting collaborative research under the mentorship of Drs. Sehyun Oh and Denis Nash. Dr. Ahn is a board-certified infectious disease specialist (MD, PhD) from South Korea and currently serves as an Infectious Diseases Physician at the Seoul Medical Center. She brings extensive clinical and epidemiological research expertise, with a foundational focus on HIV epidemiology and significant contributions as a principal investigator in clinical trials for COVID-19 treatments, including Remdesivir and Baricitinib. During her sabbatical at CUNY SPH, Dr. Ahn’s research will focus on advanced analytic methods for infectious disease epidemiology and implementation science. Specifically, she will collaborate with Drs. Oh and Nash to examine the relationship between COVID-19 epidemiology and urban wastewater surveillance, exploring how wastewater-based epidemiology can complement traditional surveillance systems in densely populated environments. Her work aims to bridge computational methodologies with real-world public health policies and foster long-term international research collaborations between CUNY SPH and Korean medical institutions.
