Derek Thomas is the Data Visualization Specialist/Tableau Developer at the ISPH where he supports development, implementation, and maintenance of dashboard projects related to major public health issues and initiatives. Derek brings expertise in transforming complex datasets into insightful and actionable insights by creating engaging data visualizations and dashboards to support both internal strategy and public communication. His work has been featured and cited in local and national media and congressional testimony. At Columbia University as an adjunct associate and Touro University as an adjunct professor, Derek teaches students how to tabulate and visualize data, apply persuasive design strategies, and communicate actionable findings to decision makers in data visualization and storytelling courses.
