Rakai Orphans in Communities

HIV treatment and prevention in Rakai have led to dramatic declines in orphanhood. Measuring and understanding the relationship between HIV treatment and prevention, orphanhood, and new HIV infection among AYA will be essential in guiding future HIV prevention and social policies to promote child, adolescent, and young adult health. The ROC (Rakai Orphans in Communities) project will apply innovative qualitative and quantitative methods to broaden understanding of the impact of declining orphanhood on youth risk of HIV infection.
