General Description

The CUNY School of Public Health is looking to hire Lived-Experience Consultants for a project about socialization and sex education for people with developmental disabilities, under the direction of Suzanne McDermott and Heidi Jones, faculty at the CUNY School of Public Health. 

The project is for young people (ages 16 to 27) with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and is about social and sexual information.

Position Description

The Lived- Experience Consultant will do the following tasks in this one month:

Task 1: Work with us to make sure the Informed Consent form is easy to understand (about 1 hour)
Task 2: Work with us to make sure the Questionnaire is easy to understand (about 5 hours)
Task 3: Be present at 3 or 4 interviews when we are hiring additional staff to help us find people who work well with people with developmental disabilities (about 4 hours)

If the Lived-Experience Consultant and staff want to keep working together, the second consultant period will be longer than one month.

Qualifications:

• Educated with an IEP and received service coordination from disability service agency in New York State.
• Can travel to meetings
• Has a computer and can use Zoom or Microsoft Teams to be at meetings
• Evidence of ability to follow directions and work well with others
